Topics and sections

Thematic session 1) Restoration and Method (RM): The phases prior to the restoration project: historical documentation and planimetry, constructive survey, critical survey, etc. Technologies of scientific documentation and image. Non-destructive and laboratory tests. The importance of the methodology of the restoration project and its teaching at the Schools of Architecture. Methodological aspects of restoration training in the university curricula. Issues concerning coordination and integration with other related subjects from a multidisciplinary perspective. Proposals for didactic regulations at the Shools of Architecture.

Thematic session 2) Conservation and Architecture (CA): Project design and constructive aspects of practical intervention in Heritage. The dialogue between new and old architecture. In this session, all cases that integrate time as a building material are studied in its different architectural modalities: constructed, projected and/or construction management. Specific case studies.

Thematic session 3) Structure and Earthquake (SE): Granada is the province in Spain with the highest seismic acceleration coefficient. In this session, those works that prove the suitability of buildings structures, as well as the adaptation to seismic efforts are accepted. Methodologies and intervention techniques for structural consolidation. Specific case studies.

Thematic session 4) Sustainability and Efficiency (SEF): There are three specific sections in the field of restoration sustainability and energy efficiency, namely, building accessibility, energy efficiency and installation systems, and legality and safety in the building process. Specific case studies.

Thematic session 5) Cultural Landscape and Industrial Heritage (CLIH): This session is mainly focused on urbanism and engineering, including both, technical and historical studies. The aim is to address ReUSO from a perspective where buildings, urban plots and landscape meet. Works on the industrial or cultural heritage and historical footprint will be examined. Specific case studies.

Thematic Session 6) Material and Recuperation (MR): This session includes materials research, methodologies, technology transfer and applied processes for the conservation of cultural heritage. Quality control applied to materials, diagnoses and treatments. Viable applications in material conservation from experimental sciences and the technique. Material innovation and its compatibility with already existing buildings. Materials recycling in conservation and restoration works. Recycling as a form of building conservation and its materials. Specific case studies.
